Cross-border working involving Nottinghamshire Police and South Yorkshire Police resulted in a man being arrested in Retford in connection with a shooting in Sheffield.

Last night (Wednesday 1 July 2020) an armed team from Nottinghamshire Police supported South Yorkshire Police colleagues in arresting a 20- year-old man at an address on suspicion of attempted murder.

The arrests follow reports of a shooting in Arbourthorne, Sheffield, earlier this week.

Inspector Ash Thornton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This is an excellent example of collaborative working with our colleagues across borders to target criminals.

"Nottinghamshire Police takes firearms offences extremely seriously, working proactively to take weapons off our streets, and we were happy to assist our South Yorkshire colleagues in making this significant arrest."

South Yorkshire Police are investigating another alleged shooting in Arbourthorne in Sheffield this evening.
