The 31-year old man who was arrested at the scene remains in police custody this morning.
Sergeant Craig Luckett from Nottinghamshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit said: “A collision which has caused such serious injuries is obviously a matter of real concern for our officers, which is why we now have a team of experienced collision investigators working to understand how the man came to sustain his injuries.
“I am now directly appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle involved – a black 03-plate BMW vehicle – in the moments before the collision to contact Nottinghamshire Police as soon as possible.”
