How police have been tackling various different crimes across Bassetlaw recently

Officers have made a series of arrests, carried out drugs warrants and dismantled cannabis farms.
They have also taken action over concerns about speeding and acted swiftly to curb yobbish behaviour.

Hide AdInspector Neil Bellamy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A number of covert and overt operations have been set up alongside targeted patrols.
“This has resulted in numerous people being dealt with, most significantly: two men were arrested for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs in the Sandy Lane area, a man and a woman were arrested for theft from motor vehicles in the Gateford area and a man and a woman arrested for burglary and drug driving also in the Gateford area. A man was arrested for a burglary in the Armstrong Road area and was sent back to prison having been found to be on recall.
“We have had further arrests in the Worksop and Retford areas for drink-driving, drug-driving, driving while disqualified, shop theft, public order, criminal damage and failing to appear for court."
The teams also uncovered cannabis grows in the Hardwick Road and Cheapside areas of Worksop as well as the Bircotes area of East Bassetlaw resulting in them being dismantled and a number of people being arrested.

Hide AdWith the support of the dog section, two drugs warrants were executed in the Retford area resulting in two men being arrested for drug possession.
Drug use in the Canche and Priory Gate areas of Worksop was identified as an issue resulting in regular patrols and CCTV being put in place.
Nuisance behaviour and criminal damage was targeted in Carlton-in Lindrick leading to several youths being spoken to about their behaviour.
Reports of speeding have been addressed and resources continue to be committed to tackling this resulting in officers visiting a number of locations including Shepherds Avenue, Carlton Road, Raymoth Lane, Shireoaks and Blyth.

Hide AdRegular patrols have also been taking place in car parks in relation to traffic nuisance, particularly with young motorists, and numerous warning notices have been issued for careless and antisocial driving.
Several vehicles have been seized for having no tax or insurance following reports of vehicles being used in an anti-social manner.
At least ten drivers were tested positive for having drugs in their system and many will subsequently be banned from driving for a significant period of time.
To help deter shop theft and break-ins, officers in plain clothes have been conducting patrols in town centres and the teams have been supporting Bassetlaw District Council, providing information to assist with Community Behaviour Orders and subsequent breaches.

Hide AdInsp Bellamy added: “Bassetlaw is a vast area with lots of different issues and we have been working really hard across the district to identify the problems for our local communities and come up with sustainable ways of how we're going to tackle them.
“My teams have really stood up to the challenge and I’d like to thank everyone one of them for their hard work.
“I’d also like to thank local people who’ve communicated with us and worked together with us on certain issues.
“We will not get complacent with these issues – we have plans in place to incorporate these operations into daily business as we focus on the next set of neighbourhood priorities.”
