Hammer wielding man arrested in Sutton-in-Ashfield after series of robberies

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were deployed to the Deepdale Court area of Stoneyford Road after three people were allegedly threatened by a man believed to have been in possession of a hammer.
It was reported that a man approached a victim in their car at around 8.30pm last night, but he was thought to have been scared off by a dog in the rear of the vehicle.

Hide AdIt was then reported that a short time later a man had threatened a woman into handing over cash in a nearby incident.
In a third incident a man was threatened by a man with a hammer who then stole his bike.
A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the three incidents.
He remains in police custody today for questioning over the series of incidents.

Hide AdIn a statement, Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take robbery incredibly seriously and investigate all reports thoroughly.
“Our officers did a fantastic job to make an arrest so quickly in connection with the three reports and we are working hard to establish the circumstances.
“Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.”
