BREAKING: Mansfield mum Katie Crowder found guilty of murdering her 19-month-old daughter Gracie

A Mansfield woman scalded her 19-month-old daughter to death by pouring boiling hot water over her and then waited for the toddler to die before raising the alarm, a jury has found.

At the end of a 14-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court, the jury took around seven hours of deliberation to find Katie Crowder guilty of murder by a unanimous verdict.

Crowder, aged 26, of Wharmby Avenue, Mansfield, murdered her daughter Gracie in the early hours of Friday, March 6, this year while high on cocaine.

Medical evidence heard during the trial revealed that Crowder had the equivalent of “three large lines” of the drug in her system at the time Gracie died.

Crowder sat with her head bowed as the verdict was delivered, and family then went screaming and shouting from the court.

She will be sentenced at a hearing next week but will serve a minimum of 15 years before she can be considered for parole.
