Blaze that raged through the night in South Anston 'started deliberately'

A fire that raged for hours in South Anston leaving plumes of smoke billowing across Worksop and the surrounding area is believed to have been started deliberately.

Smoke could be seen across Worksop, Aston and parts of Sheffield as firefighters from Aston Park Fire Station battled the fire near Aston Grange Farm, at Lindrick Dale, last night (Thursday, April 15).

It broke out in the late evening and crews from Aston Park didn’t leave the scene until 12.45am.

Firefighters returned to the scene this morning and, after carrying out an investigation, believe the fire was a result of an arson attack.

The matter will now be passed on to South Yorkshire Police.
