Crews tackle large grass fire near Lound

FIREFIGHTERS spent nearly five hours tackling a large grass fire at Daneshill Road, Lound near Retford last night (Sunday).

At 9.10pm fire crews from Retford and Harworth were called to around 400 sq metres of grass and undergrowth ablaze.

Three appliances fought the fire with hose reel jets until 2am.

A burned out Land Rover was found in the ashes afterwards.

The vehicle was too badly damaged to be identified and it is not known how the fire started.
