Creswell: Funding boost for heritage trust

Creswell Heritage Trust is celebrating after receiving a £8,646 funding boost for their project to restore the Crags pond.

The money, from the SITA Trust, will allow the improvement of the biodiversity of the pond by restoring the banks and margins, and increasing the amount of aquatic flora in the pond.

They also plan to install a second smaller pond close to the large Crags pond.

Ian Wall, trust director at Creswell Crags said: ‘We are delighted to receive this grant from SITA Trust which will allow us to improve Crags Pond, as well as create a new, smaller pond. This will be a great asset to the wildlife and biodiversity of the rare limestone habitat at Creswell Crags.”

Marek Gordon, chief executive and chairman of SITA Trust, added: “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund.”

“This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.2 billion.”

SITA Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. Funding is available for projects that enhance communities and enrich nature.
