Crash on A57 Dunham Road

Police were called to the A57 Dunham Road at Newton-on-Trent at around 9.30m yesterday morning (Saturday 7th April) after reports of a two car collision.

A green Citroen Xsara had collided with a black Peugeot 307. Two passengers from the Citroen were injured.

A four-year-old girl from the South Clifton area was airlifted to QMC in Nottingham with head injuries and a six-year-old girl, from the same area, was taken by ambulance to Lincoln County Hospital with facial injuries. Neither of the girls had life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 25-year-old woman from the Saxilby area, was treated for minor whiplash injuries. No arrests were made.

Significant tailbacks were cause by the road closures.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch with them as soon as possible via the non-emergency 101 number.
