Cracking case for students

PUPILS at a Worksop school had a cracking time investigating the appearance of an ‘eggstraordinary’ object on the school’s playing fields.

Children at St Anne’s Primary School were surprised to find a large egg-shaped object wedged between two trees on the school grounds.

St Anne’s teacher Ruth Peake organised the ‘eggscelent’ hoax and said the children were told that The Ministry of Strange Objects had asked the school to investigate further.

“The children really enjoyed investigating and had fun taking pictures and researching scientific explanations,” she said.

All 210 pupils were asked to collect as much information as possible and were visited by PC Dave Case and school governor Mary Richards who donned a lab coat and provided the children with some scientific clues.

Pupils got involved with the investigation by making papier maché eggs and writing news reports on their findings.

Ruth added: “The hoax was great fun and if other schools in the area want to try the same thing we have a spare giant egg!”
