A RETFORD councillor has been appointed as Bassetlaw Council’s portfolio holder for housing.
Coun Alan Chambers, who represents east Retford west, will fill the position left by Coun Alan Rhodes who resigned on New Year’s Eve.
Coun Chambers said: “I am very excited about taking on the housing portfolio and building on the excellent work of my predecessor Alan Rhodes. When I was elected as a councillor I wanted to be accessible and make a real difference for my ward. I now have the opportunity to do that across the whole of the district and I am looking forward to working with both A1 Housing and the council’s housing teams.”
Council leader Coun Simon Greaves was delighted that Coun Chambers had taken up the post and said he will have a key role in the shaping the budget.
