Council vans beat hose ban

Anglian Water imposed a domestic hosepipe ban for all customers on 5th April and it will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

It was a direct response to the serious drought across the east of England.

And everyone is being asked to take action to help conserve water supplies.

“Residents have been given a hosepipe ban. Although the council is classed as a business, we must also act responsibly to reduce our own water consumption,” said Coun Malcolm Parish who chairs the WLDC prosperous communities committee.

“We have voluntarily agreed to reduce the frequency of washing our fleet vehicles to just once a month, depending on health and safety reasons.”

“We would urge everyone in the area to think carefully about the volume of water they use.”

Residents are urged to put their hosepipes away to help save millions of litres of water.

Ways of doing this include collecting rain water to use in the garden and wiping down headlights and number plates instead of washing the car.
