Jones Homes have donated £500 to the students’ project for Carlton Youth Club where they project where they are developing an area to give visitors to the club a space to relax and socialise outside.

The space will include a nature path, with wild flowers, bird boxes and a seating area, as well as a central space being designed as a chessboard big enough to also accommodate a stage for outdoor summer performances.

Martin Lane, construction tutor at North Notts College, said: “There’s a growing need for work experience and we have set hours for working in the community.

“This opportunity allows students to gain experience in industry as well as supporting the community and giving something back.”

Work on the project is now well underway and is due to be finished at the end of the academic year.
