Between junction 30 for Worksop and junction 29A for Markham Vale and Bolsover there is congestion.
The Highways Agency expects it to be cleared by 11.45am today, Wednesday, February 28.
Congestion causes M1 delays
A high volume of traffic has caused congestion on the southbound carriageway of the M1.
