COMMUNITY: WI

The April meeting of Worksop WI was held as usual at Worksop Cricket, Sports and Social Club on Central Avenue. It was a well attended meeting and included visitors and guests from neighbouring WI's. The speaker for the afternoon was Jane Brownley, an accomplished diver who entertained us with beautiful images of life from beneath the waves. Jane was accompanied by her husband Neil who showed us their diving equipment.

Earlier in April, 13 members attended the Federation spring council meeting which was held at the Royal Centre in Nottingham. The morning was devoted to WI topics, followed by a talk regarding the work done by ACWW, a charity devoted to helping women all over the world. In the afternoon the group all enjoyed hearing of the experiences of Paul Hayes, the antiques expert and TV personality.

The next meeting on May 5 will be mainly dedicated to a discussion and voting to choose the WI’s Resolution for this year. The group will also have a visit from The Gifts and Greetings team who will be tempting members once again with their unusual and varied merchandise. Following this the group will be treated to a cream tea. Anyone wishing to attend will be made very welcome, so do pop along at 1.45pm on Thursday, May 5.
