Coming and going

panto time meant the annual trip to Sheffield City Hall for us, to see Manor Operatic’s Sleeping Beauty.

The larger-than-life dame always makes a point of picking on someone in the front row and this year it was the turn of Adrian, a fireman from Worksop.

After being made to stand up and face the audience, the dame, or Nurse Dotty Dettol to give her her full title, asked him where he lived.

“Gateford, Worksop,” Adrian said nervously.

“Ooooh, that’s a lovely place to come from...” said Dotty, heaving her enormous bosoms up.

“Awful place to go to though.”
