Officers were called to the National Trust run park’s ornate bridge at around 8am on Saturday, March 3 where they discovered the monument had been smashed into by a car which was then set on fire and dumped at the scene.

Just over a week later, in the early hours of Monday, March 12, eight people fled for their lives in an arson attack on an accommodation barn within the park grounds.

Police believe the incidents could be linked.

A man was arrested and bailed in connection with the offences on Saturday, March 17 and has now been re-bailed.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: “The man who was on bail in connection with the incidents has been re-bailed and enquiries are continuing.”

Detectives continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
