Club pay Vulcan a flying visit

WORKSOP Probus Club enjoyed a special day out at the former RAF base in Finningley to visit the legendary Vulcan bomber.

Around 35 members attended the visited Robin Hood Airport to see the last remaining airworthy Avro Vulcan XH558.

A club spokesman said: “We listened to two presentations - one by former-base commander Alan Tolhurst who gave a very interesting PowerPoint presentation on his time there, before members visited the hangar in which the Vulcan is maintained.”

“Here, we all really enjoyed a walk-round talk from Toni Hunter - one of the enthusiastic members of the team that keeps the Vulcan flying.”

Worksop Probus Club provides a forum for members who have a lifetime of experience in the professional and business world to meet and exchange views while encouraging friendship and fellowship.

They meet on alternate Fridays at the pavilion of Worksop Cricket Club. The next meeting is a lunch at Worksop Golf Club on 18th March, featuring a talk from those who restored the Tuxford Windmill.
