Clowne: Police seize teenager’s motorbike for causing a nuisance

Officers had calls from residents about the pit bike being ridden on footpaths in the Rose Avenue and Gapsick Lane area at around 1.45pm on Thursday 16th May.

The bike was seized after police found the 17-year-old rider had previously been issued with a Section 59 warning within the last 12 months, for similar behaviour in the Whitwell area.

PCSO Simon Galley of the Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We do receive reports from residents about bikes, particularly when they are noisy or being ridden in a dangerous way, which could put other people’s safety at risk. Anyone who owns one of these machines must know how and when to ride safely and legally, and use them responsibly. Nuisance riding can have an impact on the lives of local residents, and this type of anti-social behaviour won’t be tolerated.”

Officers and PCSOs can issue a Section 59 warning to riders and drivers for anti-social behaviour and have the power to seize bikes from anyone caught using them illegally.
