Clowne: GCSE results remain high at Heritage

Reforms to GCSEs have meant that more subjects are now being judged on final examinations, schools being discouraged to re-enter students on a number of occasions, there have been changes to GCSE English assessments and grade boundaries have been moved in some subjects.

At Heritage, 47 per cent of students achieved five GCSEs grades A*-C, including English and Maths. This is up slightly from 46 per cent last year.

In English, Maths and Science almost two thirds of students across these subjects achieved higher grade GCSE passes at grades A*- C at the school.

A number of students at Heritage were particularly successful. These include Adam Cunliffe, Annalise Guild and Thomas Donald all who achieved 13 or more higher grade GCSE passes.

Mr Don Spencer, headteacher at the school said: “I am proud that the hardwork of my staff is resulting in positive outcomes for young people, which compare well with some of the best schools in the region; particularly when progress is considered.”

Dr Dawn Green, chair of governors said: “Despite changes to the examination system Heritage continues to strive for higher standards and achieve well for its students.”
