Clintons moves to Marshall’s

CLINTON Cards has moved 300 yards from its old base in Silver Street and into the former Birthdays store in Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough.

The move has seen three jobs created, as well as staff carried over from Birthdays.

Troubled greetings card retailer closed its Clintons store in Gainsborough on 8th June this year, after going into administration in May.

At the same time the company announced the closure of all of its Birthdays card shops, including the one in Marshall’s Yard.

American Greetings, one of the chain’s biggest suppliers, eventually bought the brand and more than half of its UK stores.

In Gainsborough, the Birthdays store was included in the deal, but Clinton Cards was not.

Now the new, improved Clintons store has opened in the town’s retail park with a brand new image.

The new look. including smartened interiors and new red shop signs will be rolled out across 400 stores over the next three years, at a cost of £16 million.

It is hoped the move will revive Clintons fortunes for the future.

Jackie Helliwell, centre manager at Marshall’s Yard, said: “The new Clintons store at Marshall’s Yard re-opened for trade on Saturday 3rd August after being closed for one week while refurbishment and rebranding works were carried out.”

“We are obviously delighted that Clintons have chosen to retain their store at Marshall’s Yard and feel that the new brand is a great addition to our range of stores.”

Just last month, Marshall’s Yard welcomed The Card Factory, to its portfolio.

Jackie said: “We strongly believe that both retailers will be successful at the centre, both attracting their customers for their different offer.”
