Cigarette chancer is sentenced

A VICTIM of assault has been awarded £150 compensation after a nasty late night attack in Worksop.

Nigel Bradford, 19, of Lincoln Street, Worksop, admitted assaulting Dale Pederson on 4th May this year.

Prosecuting, Nathaniel Hartley said Mr Pederson was walking on Carlton Road with his girlfriend at around 11.40pm. Bradford asked them for a cigarette near the train station.

They ignored him and Bradford slapped Pederson causing his nose to bleed. When they tried to walk away Bradford continued the assault, punching him to the ground.

Magistrates imposed a 12 month community order, 140 hours unpaid work, and ordered him to pay £150 compensation and £85 costs.
