A new church-backed enterprise launched later this month is aiming to tackle poverty head-on in Notts.

Transforming Notts Together is a joint enterprise set up through a partnership between the Church Urban Fund and the Church of England across Notts - the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

The aim of the organisation is to partner with churches, other faiths, charities, voluntary and community organisations, businesses and statutory bodies to help make a difference to people trapped in the ‘web of poverty’. It will enable financial and practical support to be channelled into local schemes such as homeless centres, debt counselling and food banks.

Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, the Rt Revd Paul Butler, who is backing the scheme, said: “Many of our churches are already involved in life-changing and compassionate projects, so Transforming Notts Together will help them do even more as they attempt to tackle injustice and work with others to give people a helping hand.”
