Chocolate thieves are handed a last chance

Drug addicts who tried to steal £30 worth of cholcoate from a shop have escaped a custodial sentence.

Kerry Ann Causer, 33, and Daniel Roy Lynk, 32 both of Willow Crescent, Sutton, were spotted on CCTV taking the bars from the Select and Save shop on Dalestorth Street.

Mitigating, Chris Perry said the pair had a long-standing heroin problems and were now both on methadone programmes to conquer their addiction.

The pair, already on a suspended sentence, admitted a charge of theft but the magistrates were lenient and handed them a conditional discharge.

Both were told to pay £165 in costs and £15 each for the stolen chocolate.
