Children say no to bullying

The children at Woodsetts Primary School were designing anti-bullying posters as part of a whole week of activities learning about bullying before the end of term.

And there was also an extra special incentive on offer for the children, as they were all competing for a fantastic prize, donated courtesy of South Yorkshire Police.

“We do work around anti-bullying week each year as it is important for the children to understand it,” said teacher Samantha Shaw.

“There were lots of activities around bullying going on every afternoon, and the poster designing was just one of them.”

“Every child from every class in the school spent time designing their own anti-bullying poster, with some fantastic results.”

“South Yorkshire Police gave us an iPad to be given to the overall winner, so they were all very excited,” she added.

The top three posters from each class were selected, and each got prizes for their efforts.

The the best one was then selected as the lucky winner of the top prize of the iPad.

PSCO Ashley Hill from South Yorkshire Police came into the school to have a look at the pupil’s creative work and to award the prizes to the lucky winners.

“As well as getting the iPad the winning poster was also copied and laminated and put up around the school where everyone can see,” added Mrs Shaw.

“We’ve made posters before, but never had such a fantastic prize to give out and they were all really excited.”

“They all really enjoyed taking part and making the posters, and seeing them displayed around school.”

National anti bullying week has a theme each year. This time round it was based around the slogan ‘we’re better without bullying’.
