Charlotte Welch, 29, has outshone hundreds of candidates from housing organisations across the UK to secure her place in the next round of the 2016 Young Leaders Award.

The awards celebrate those aged under 30 who show potential to be a young leader.

The 20 shortlisted candidates will now be cut down to just 10. If successful Charlotte will take part in a heated debate with nine other hopefuls and the Young Leaders judges. The best five will then compete in the final in September.

Charlotte said: “When I started as an apprentice in the team, my knowledge in housing was minimal. As time has gone on, my interest and passion has grown.

“If I get through to the semi-finals, I am looking forward to bringing my ideas and opinions to the table. I am nervous but my passion will be the driving force and will bring me courage.”

Charlotte was nominated by her team manager, Michelle Howard for her leadership qualities.

Michelle said: “Charlotte joined the team in 2013 as an apprentice and continually demonstrates determination, capability and leadership qualities that have driven forward change within a busy customer facing service.

“She is described by her peers as emotionally intelligent, innovative in her approach, solution focused and committed to achieving the best outcomes for customers.”

Charlotte needs your vote to get through to the top 10. Voting is open until Friday, May 20, and to vote visit www.24housing.co.uk/content/young-leaders-2016.
