Worksop charity Joel, which provides support to families who have experienced pregnancy and baby loss will hold an official ceremony when the tree will be planted.

In addition to the Oak tree, two picnic benches will be provided to create a place for families to go and remember their loved baby.

Rachel Hodges, committee member at Joel said: “We wanted to create a place for people to go and have a little time to reflect.”

“Langold Lake is a beautiful park with a lot of quiet, open space.”

Joel was founded in 2012 by Emma Pearson and Lisa Bramley, who had both lost babies and wanted to provide a support network for other parents who went through the devastating loss of a child. It became a registered charity in 2014.

The oak tree was donated to the charity by Northern Garden supplies in Oldcoates, and the preparation leading up to the event has been funded by Bassetlaw County Council, who also donated one of the two picnic benches.

Keith Somers from Bassetlaw District Council, said: “We were more than happy to help get everything prepared for the plantation of the oak tree.”

“It will be really good to have somewhere local for parents to go.

“It is a lovely gesture.”

The official planting of the tree will take place on Sunday, March 27, at 1pm.

Councillor Gwynneth Jones is expected to attend the event alongside the chair of Joel, Emma Pearson

Plaques will also be un-vielled at the event and will be placed on the tree and benches.

Parents are asked to bring a picnic a long to mark the occasion and activities have been planned for children including a chocolate egg hunt.

Parents will have the opportunity to add a pot of soil with their child’s name on and a balloon release will also take place as a mark of remembrance for the “rainbow babies” - a term used for a baby that is born following a miscarriage or still birth.
