Charity trek to top of Mount Sbowdon

They are taking part in the Princes Trust Team Programme - a 12 week course for people aged 16-25 who are hoping to get into employment, education or training.

As part of the course, run with Notts Fire and Rescue Service, they had to come up with an idea for a project that would benefit the community, and decided to make a video about peer-pressure and substance misuse.

To fund it they have bag-packed at Tesco in Clowne and done two car washes at Worksop Fire Station – raising over £950.

The group made it to the top of Mount Snowdon despite the adverse weather conditions, and have raised £100 so far.

Team Leader Gavin Clark said: “It was a great day, that was shared with a great group of young people.”

“Considering the weather conditions and how long the day turned out to be the team have accomplished a massive achievement.”

“They did this representing Notts Fire and Rescue and all the service is proud of them and especially as they did this in the name of charity.”

“They showed some great improvements in teamwork skills and the support they showed each other made me proud to be the team leader,”

Ryan Bennett, 20, from Worksop said the climb was a great experience.

“Everyone enjoyed it and everyone pushed themselves as much as they could, even with aches and pains,” he said.

“It was a good team bonding experience as everyone worked well together and we would all definitely look to do this again in the future.”
