A WLDC spokesman said: “Please make sure that you have your bin out by 7am on your allotted morning to make sure that it gets emptied.”

“Failure to do so results in a lot of missed collections at this time of year.”

The council also urge residents to put out their extra recycling.

The spokesman continued: “Christmas and New Year is a time when there is lots of extra recycling.”

“If you have too much to fit in your blue bin, we’ll take away your recycling overflow as long as it is placed in an open carrier bag or cardboard box and left next to the blue bin.”

He added: “Remember there are lots of unexpected Christmas items from this time of year that you can recycle - such as chocolate tins and even mince meat jars.

“If there are any further changes to our services, then we will notify local radio stations and the latest information will also be posted online at the council’s website.”
