birthS at Bassetlaw Hospial could become midwifery led and acute cases for children treated at Doncaster Hospital, according to two independent reports published today.

The reports recommend that consultant-led deliveries be centralised to Doncaster and a short-stay assessment unit for children to be based at Bassetlaw.

The recommendations come from consultant obstetrciain and gynaecologist Mr Martin de Bono and consultant paediatrician Dr Adrian Brooke who were commissioned by the PCT as part of the clinical services review.

These reports will now be considered by doctors, nurses and midwives ahead of the public consultation in May.
