Chance to audition for film by Hucknall writer and director

A film written and directed by a Hucknall man is looking for teenagers from Nottinghamshire to star in the leading roles.

The Devil Outside is the second film by writer/director Andrew Hulme who grew up in Hucknall

He attended Hucknall National Comprehensive as well as Bilborough 6th Form College and Trent Polytechnic before leaving Nottingham to study Fine Art in Leeds.

Now living in London, Andrew has more than 25 years experience in the film and television industry working as one of the UK’s top film editors.

He has worked prominently with director Paul McGuigan, editing films such as Acid House (1998), Gangster No. 1 (2000) and Lucky Number Slevin (2005), for which he won the award for Best Editing at the Milan Film Festival 2006.

Andrew has also worked on films such as Control (2007) and The American (2010) for director Anton Corbijn, as well as director Bart Layton’s critically acclaimed feature documentary The Imposter (2011).

Andrew transitioned to directing in 2013. He directed and co wrote his first feature film, Snow In Paradise which was placed in competition in the Un Certain Regard strand of the Cannes Film Festival 2014.

The film was also screened at festivals round the world and released in the UK by Artificial Eye and in France by WildSide/The Jokers.

This new film, The Devil Outside, is an atmospheric coming of age film about faith, adolescence and friendships.

Set within a Nottinghamshire ex-mining community, the main character is a 13-year-old boy whose life changes dramatically after he discovers a dead body.

Filming will be on location in Nottinghamshire in the summer and the production team is looking to cast two teenage boys and one teenage girl in lead roles.

Auditions will be held at the Television Workshop, The Basement, 49 Stoney Street, The Lace Market, Nottingham, NG1 2LX, on Friday, April 15, from 10am to 1pm for girls and 2pm to 5pm for boys.

No acting experience is required.
