Cash boost for Gainsborough Adventure Playground

Gainsborough Adventure Playground (GAPA) has been awarded a grant of more than £70,000 from BBC Children in Need.

In total £76,687 will be awarded to the playground over three years which will be used to fund salary costs and help make a difference to the lives of children and young people.

GAPA is situated on the Park Springs Estate in Gainsborough and has been open for more than 43 years with thousands of local children and families accessing each year.

Its team of 14 staff and numerous volunteers provide services all year round for children aged 0 to 14-years-old that includes an Adventure Playground, Nursery and Groups for parents/carers with children under five.

Lisa Pinkney, the Company Manager at GAPA said; “We could not reach out to the young people in the Gainsborough area without the support of BBC Children in Need.

“This grant will go on to change the lives of so many young people and give them the support they need.”

BBC Children in Need funding relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK who donate their time and money to support the appeal.

Whether its cake sales, wearing pyjamas to school or having a song and dance, every penny of the money raised goes towards supporting projects across the UK.

All grants go to projects working with children and young people living in the UK who may be affected by homelessness, neglect, abuse or poverty, or those who have faced challenges in their lives such as serious illness, disabilities and psychological disorders.
