Carlton’s Grey Horses pub gallops to CAMRA success

THe Grey Horses in Carlton has been crowned the North Notts branch of the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Pub of the Season for Autumn.

Since taking over two years ago, Chris and Sally Redzia have turned it into a family friendly pub which has become renowned for the quality of its food and beers.

The Grey Horses has a beer brewed exclusively for them by the Welbeck Abbey Brewery.

Carlton Knight is a 3.8% beer, named after a medieval figure that was found in the village eight years ago.

There are always at least two or three other real ales available, usually from local breweries .

CAMRA North Notts branch chairman Steve Bownes said The Grey Horses is a ‘real credit’ to ale.

“In the two years that Chris and Sally have been in running the pub, they have done a lot to promote real ale and the beer they sell is always in excellent condition,” he said.

Chris said they were ‘absolutely made up’ to be recognised for the work they do at the pub.

“The award is accepted on behalf of the staff for the work that they have put in over the last 12 months,” he said.

The biggest thank you goes to our customers because if they didn’t come here and drink what we were serving, it wouldn’t be as good as it is.”
