David Davies passed away on Wednesday 18th December aged 70-years-old but to ensure the village continues to have a post office his daughter Paula Davies has taken over the branch in High Road, Carlton-in-Lindrick.

Paula said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances my father, David Davies, passed away just before Christmas, and to his best knowledge, he has tried to maintain a high standard of customer service throughout his 27 years in Carlton to his friends and customers of Carlton-in-Lindrick and the surrounding villages by giving the opportunity to myself to carry on his legacy.”

“Therefore the post office will be remaining open for the foreseeable future and still maintaining the high standard of customer service.”

Paula and her staff would like to wish a happy new year to both old and new customers who are all welcome.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of David Davies, the subpostmaster at Carlton-in-Lindrick Post Office, following his death shortly before Christmas.”

“Mr Davies served people in the area with distinction over the years and he will be missed by the community.”

“Mr Davies’ daughter Paula, who had been managing the branch prior to her father’s death, will assume the role of temporary subpostmaster.”

“We wish her the very best at this difficult time.”

“Carlton-in-Lindrick Post Office will continue to operate as normal and there are no plans to close or relocate the service.”

The funeral for Mr Davies will be taking place on Tuesday 14th January at 2pm at St John’s Church in Carlton-in-Lindrick.
