Carer stole wallet cash

A WOMAN has admitted stealing money from a man she cared for.

Worksop magistrates heard how Angela Meadows, 44, of Chestnut Close, Weston, Newark, stole £80 from Trevor Johnson while she worked as his carer in Tuxford.

Prosecuting, Ruth Snowdin said she had stolen the cash between 31st October and 1st December 2012.

The court heard how Mr Johnson’s wife set up a camera after the money went missing. It showed Meadows stealing from Mr Johnson’s wallet.

Defending, David Verity said she had given the £80 back when confronted. Meadows had a good relationship with Mr Johnson, who has a brain injury, and could not explain why she did it. Magistrates imposed a year-long community order, 60 hours unpaid work and £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
