Simon Ramsay wanted staff at Heathcoat Care Home to contact the Oak Tree Lane store, but when they refused, he got angry on March 11, said Daniel Pietryka, prosecuting.

He broke a table leg, threw a chair across a kitchen and kicked an oven door off its hinges, before “chucking” a kettle of boiling water around and pushing over furniture in the dining room.

Ramsay, 31, admitted criminal damage when he appeared, with his care worker, before Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Thursday.

Yvonne Wragg, mitigating, said Ramsay was a “very troubled man” who suffers from autism and has learning difficulties.

She said he had been with the Heathcoat company for “many years”, and had been moved from two other homes before coming to the Lindhurst Lane home, five years ago.

“His adopted mum confirms that when he sees red he can’t control his actions,” said Mrs Wragg.

“It’s only afterwards that he realises what he has done, knows he has done wrong, and apologises.”

The court heard that when he calmed down, he came downstairs and helped tidy up, but he had four previous convictions for criminal damage.

Ramsay was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation from his benefits.
