Care home boss stole

THE MANAGER of a Whitwell nursing home took a vulnerable resident’s bank card and used it ten times to steal money.

Julie Bailey, who worked at the Corner House in Welbeck Street, took the card from 52-year-old Angela Hall, a resident with learning difficulties.

Chesterfield magistrates heard that she stole a total of £800 from Ms Hall’s account over an 18-month period.

Bailey, 40, of King Street, Hodthorpe, admitted theft between 5th May 2010 and 28th December 2011.

The bench adjourned sentence until Thursday 26th April for probation service reports.

“She is ashamed and full of remorse. She apologises to everyone concerned. She realises it is a serious matter as she was manager of the nursing home and in a position of trust,” said David Verity, for Bailey.
