A range of vintage models were on show at Ye Olde Bell Hotel, Barnby Moor, as the drivers pulled in on their way to Dover before travelling on to Monaco.

More than 200 car enthusiasts made the effort but despite the weather conditions being good, many competitors were late arriving and there were a number of breakdowns and non-arrivals.

They left Glasgow around 5pm on Sunday, 29th January, and were expected to pull over around 9.30pm.

It has been 101 years since the first Monte Carlo Rally in 1911, started by Prince Albert I of Monaco as an endurance and adventure for drivers to travel the 2190 miles in their classic cars over the frozen Alps in winter into the sunshine of Monaco.
