Car damaged with paint stripper in Kiveton

CAR owners in Kiveton are being warned after hundreds of pounds worth of damage was done to a vehicle.

Michael Smith’s Fiat Punto was damaged during the night on the quiet cul-de-sac, where he lives with his partner Alex Mills.

It is belived that paint stripper was poured over the car sometime between 10.30pm on Sunday 16th and 7am on Monday 17th September.

The attack caused around £1,000 worth of damage to the passenger side, roof and the boot.

The couple, who reported it to police, can not understand why their car was targeted in the un-provoked incident, but believe it may be linked to the Sheffield Wednesday stickers in the rear view window.

They are urging motorists in Kiveton to be aware so other car owners do not find themselves in a similar situation.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At approx 8am on Monday 17th September, we received reports that a Black Fiat Punto had been vandalised overnight.”

“It appears that a paint stripper style substance has been poured over the car, causing damage to the roof and passenger side.”

“Further enquires are ongoing. But we would urge anyone with information to call 101.”
