At 11:45am on Thursday 5th July an 89-year-old woman was approached by a man at home in Highfield Road, Saxilby.
He said there had been a gas leak at her neighbour’s house and he needed to check her house as it could explode.
She refused to let him in, saying she would phone a neighbour. He then said he needed to check her electric cooker.
She refused again and the man left in a black Audi A5 or A7 car. He was white, aged 30 - 40, not very tall with short brown hair, medium build and a round face. He had a SAFE GAS badge, photo ID card on his chest and carried a note pad.
An identical incident happened in Worksop 40 minutes earlier that day.
