The club says the tie has created a ‘real buzz’ in Gainsborough and ticket sales were going well - with many people attending who have not been to the Northolme before.

Club chairman, Richard Kane, said: “There is no pressure on the players. They are a League One side and we are Conference. We are calling it David vs Goliath.

“We are significantly smaller than them.

“Ticket sales are doing really well. We have sold more than 1,300 tickets so far for Gainsborough alone and we are still selling them.

“We have had a lot of people buy tickets who have never been to a match before.

“It has generated a lot of interest and the town are really getting behind the team.

“People have been saying to me that it has created a real buzz around Gainsborough. And hopefully we can keep that going.”

Television coverage of the match on the BBC will help generate £12,500 for the club.

Richard said: “We are going to use that money to install a better irrigation system.

“We have to water the pitch on drier weather games and at the moment someone has to get to the ground at 5am and turn the sprinklers on and then move them every one and a half hours until night time.

“This new system will be automated so it will switch itself on and off.”

Richard said the preparation for the match has been hectic.

He said: “It’s been a manic week.

“There’s so much more to think about than you think.

“I will be pleased to get to Sunday now and get the game underway and see where we go next.

“If we get through to the next round it will be first time the club have reached that stage in 67 years and if we can get through to the third round it will be the first time in 127 years.”

The match will also be marking Remembrance Sunday before the game and Richard is also hoping to get poppies printed on the players shirts.
