If implemented, the BID will see businesses in the region making small contributions to the promotion of the North Nottinghamshire area.

Supported by the North Nottinghamshire Community Interest Company along with Bassetlaw District Council, it is hoped that the scheme will put North Nottinghamshire ‘well and truly on the map.’

George Buchanan, chair of the North Nottinghamshire Place Board, said: “A Business Improvement District is the best way for North Nottinghamshire to invest a small amount each year -up tp £100 a year for small businessses and up to £10,000 a year for larger businesses such as supermarkets- to improve things that are beyond the remit of the council.

“Anyone who’d like to see something improve in the area should put themselves in the driving seat, and back the bid for North Nottinghamshire.”

“If successful, the BID could be one of the largest in the UK, potentially generating in excess of £500.000 a year for projects and initiatives of the businesses’ choosing.

“These will range from events, marketing and promotion to town, street and parking improvements to increase support and productivity for businesses.”

A feasibility study was undertaken during January and February of this year to gauge the appetite for a business improvement district in North Nottinghamshire.

225 businesses in the region took part and 71 per cent of these businesses said they would support the BID.

26 per cent of businesses said they would like to find out more and 4 per cent said that they would not support the scheme.

Specialist BID consultant Michelle Baker of Regen Management delivered the feasibility study and will also be undertaking work to develop and deliver the final business plan.
