Burglars raid Maltby home

MASKED burglars raided a property in Maltby while a mother and four young children were inside.

Police officers in Rotherham are appealing for information following the violent burglary about 12.30am Sunday 16th October.

Officers believe three masked men broke into the property on Camden Grove and threatened a 30-year-old woman.

The men shouted threats and demanded money and during the struggle, one of the offenders broke the woman’s wrist.

They fled the address taking with them the victim’s purse, which contained a small amount of cash.

The children who were inside the property at the time, were not harmed.

Detective Sergeant Nikki Shimwell said: “This is a very nasty and violent break-in, with three men terrifying and injuring a mother while her four young children were in the house.”

“The offenders were wearing dark clothing and their faces were covered with scarves.”

“We are currently establishing why the offenders may have targeted this property and are providing support to the victim, who required hospital treatment following this horrific ordeal.”

“We are appealing for members of the public to contact the police immediately if they have information that may help us find these three men.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020 and quote reference 73 of the 16 October. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and if the information you provide results in a conviction, you may be entitled to a reward.
