Browns brings touch of class

SHOPPERS are counting down the days until a huge new department store opens in Gainsborough.

Independent family business Browns will open its doors at Marshall’s Yard retail park on Wednesday 15th August at 10am.

And everyone is invited to see the Mayor cut the ribbon and step inside the sparkling new £650,000 store.

Designers Jamieson Smith Associates have created a stunning interior over 12,000 sq ft and two floors, boasting men’s and ladies’ fashion, perfumes and cosmetics.

A glass lift and sweeping staircase will take shoppers to the first floor.

“This has been a very exciting project for all involved and we are delighted with the finished store,” said a spokesman for Browns.

“It has a fresh contemporary feel with each department having its own style and personality.”

“Browns’ ethos is customer and community focused and it’s hoped that the people of Gainsborough embrace the store and take it into their hearts.”

Browns was established in 1896 and currently has stores in York’s Davygate, Helmsley Market Place on the edge of the North York Moors, and Beverley Corn Exchange in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Brands on sale will include Benefit, Clarins, Clinique, East, Barbour, Ted Baker, Gant, Superdry, Sandwich and Phase Eight.

Around 24 new jobs have been created at the new store.

It takes the place of Carpet Right which closed earlier this year.

Browns Group managing director Nick Brown said: “Marshall’s Yard is a great development and we are really excited about opening our fourth store here in Lincolnshire.”

“We’ve had some great feedback about the shop opening and lots of excitement about the brands.”
