Brownlees is ‘Flat Out’ in Peterborough

Trent Valley Road Club’s Paul Brownless travelled to Peterborough to take part in the Wiggle-organised ‘Flat Out in the Fens’ sportive.

Three distances were on offer for the approximate 800 riders who had entered the event.

Paul chose the 112-mile route that was mainly on flat fenland roads, and while it remained dry throughout, a strong south-westerly wind made it especially tough on the latter stages of the course.

Paul rode well to complete the distance in 5hrs 53mins.

Last Thursday the club’s 10 mile time trial was held on a new course.

Starting from Knaith bends on the A156, riders headed towards Marton, before turning left on to minor road to Willingham, joining the B1241 and continuing through Knaith Park to Lea,turning left at junction with A156 and returning to Knaith.

This course was designed to test riders over differing terrain, and it certainly did that, with times well down on what would have been expected on a flat course.

Results: Andy Lewin 25mins 19secs, Paul Brownless 26-02, Shaun Pycroft 26-47, Ian Ferraby 27-07, Mark Marsland 27-12, Rebecca Allen 30-02, James Arden 30-03, Rob Brooks 30-54, Kevin Bilcliffe 32-07.
