BREAKING NEWS: Former UDM boss Greatrex guilty of stealing £150,000 from miners’ charity

A FORMER UDM boss has been found guilty of stealing almost £150,000 from a charity that ran a care home for sick and elderly miners.

Neil Greatrex, 61, of Shepherds Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was convicted of 14 counts of theft between June 2000 and May 2006.

Co-defendant Mick Stevens, 60, of May Lodge Drive, Rufford Park, was acquitted of all the charges.

His Honour Judge John Wait told Greatrex: “You have been convicted of a series of serious thefts and I can see only one possible sentence - that is prison.”

He added that because of his age and previous good character, probation service reports would be required.

He has been released on bail. A date for sentencing has yet to be set.
