Police have now confirmed that the body of a man found after an extensive search in New Ollerton has been confirmed as that of Stan Shanks.
Officers discovered the body on Friday, May 6 after appeals form the man's family for him to come home, and a thorough search of the community, engaging with dozens of volunteers.
Stan, 78, had been missing for seven days.
Stan's son Terry released the following statement on behalf of his family: "To the people of Ollerton, we would like to say a big, big thank you for your help and support.
"Stan was loved by all his family and friends and he will be sadly missed."
The family has asked that media respect their privacy at this time.
