Bottoms up! Looking forward to Octoberfest

EVENINGS might be drawing in, but there’s no need to stay indoors.

Throughout the month of October you’ll be spoilt for choice for things to do in Gainsborough. Because it’s that time of year again - Octoberfest.

Around 30 different organisations are holding events and activities all month, including the Gainsborough Beer Festival at The Old Hall, organised by Gainsborough and District CAMRA members.

“There is no shortage of variety and by closely working together it looks like the participants have made Gainsborough the place to be if you want to see or do something in October,” said Gary Cook from Gainsborough Town Council, which helps co-ordinate and support the annual event.

“Again, the Gainsborough Beer Festival is being staged in the superb setting of Gainsborough Old Hall between Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st October 2012,” said Gary. “Surely there is no better venue anywhere for such an event?”

Live music will also take hold of the town at places like The Weston Rooms, The Eight Jolly Brewers pub and of course Gainsborough Folk Club at the Melrose Club.

Exhibitions, theatrical performances, sports and markets pack the schedule throughout October.

On Saturday 27th October Gainsborough Lions will put their best feet forward for the annual Memory Walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

And Richmond Park will host Halloween celebrations spectacular enough to spook any little ghost or ghoul.

Gary added: “Please make every effort to support them by attending as many events as you can and help promote Gainsborough and show everyone what a lively and super town we are proud to live in.”
