Boozy Worksop man couldn't recall driving home from pub

Daniel Crapper’s Peugeot 308 was first spotted clipping the curb outside the Cannon pub, Carlton Road, at 10.10pm, on February 21, by a witness who followed him home and tipped off police.

Officers met Crapper at his Boscombe Road address and a test revealed he had 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35.

The court was shown pictures of the damaged bollard and the crumpled wing of his car.

Kate Beardmore, prosecuting, said: “In police interview, he said he wasn’t sure how much he drank, but it was a lot.

“He wasn’t sure why he drank so much and couldn’t recall the drive home.”

Crapper, 36, admitted drink driving when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Thursday, March 9.

David Verity, mitigating, said Crapper had drunk more than usual after work because of stress caused by personal problems.

He was now seeking help for his issues and his use of alcohol.

Crapper was banned from driving for 24 months, and ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

He must also abide by a one month curfew, between 8pm and 5.30am, and carry out 12 days of a rehabilitation activity, as part of a 12 month community order.
