Matthew Denny was waving his arms and shouting incoherently when officers were called to reports of a disturbance at the Market Inn, on the Market Place, at 10.30pm, on July 14.

“While they spoke to another man, he kept butting into their conversation,” said prosecutor Robert Carr. “He continued to shout at the top of his voice before falling over.

“He became more aggressive and hostile. The first man managed to get Mr Denny away.”

But police were called back 20 minutes later, he said, when Denny began shouting abuse at the officers and members of the public, and was arrested.

He told police his friend had been admitted to the pub, but he hadn’t. A small amount of cannabis was found on him.

Denny, who had no previous convictions, said: “I can’t really remember most of it. I won’t get that drunk again.”

The 28-year-old, of Longstone Way, admitted being drunk and disorderly, and possession of the Class B drug, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Friday.

He was fined £100, and ordered to pay £85 costs and an £30 government surcharge.
